Hi lovely people,
Something’s been coming up in my one-to-one coaching calls recently and I wanted to share it with you all.
It’s the idea of progress... that somehow still doesn’t feel like enough.
At the end of our 3-months together, my clients will say things like:
“I’m so much calmer now, I can actually enjoy an evening on the sofa without my brain running ahead to tomorrow…”
Or
“I caught myself mid-spiral the other day and stopped it. I didn’t even know I could do that.”
Or
“I’m finally sleeping better and it’s not because life got easier. I’ve just learned how to stop carrying so much of it to bed.”
But then they pause... and say:
“I just wish I was better at it.”
Not because they’re not proud.
Not because they didn’t see progress. But because when you finally realise how good it can feel, you want more of it.
And I get that.
Maybe you’ve felt it too?
You used to dread those client phone calls when you have to break bad news, and now you handle them calmly. But you still wonder why they leave you feeling wobbly sometimes.
You’ve started asking for a reasonable CPD budget, to go on courses to improve your skills... but still double-check your tone to make sure it doesn’t come across as “too much.”
You’ve stopped ending the day in panic. But you still feel like it wasn’t a good day unless you’ve been productive.
We’re so good at spotting what still needs work. And that’s not a flaw. It’s a sign of growth.
But I want to offer this
“I want to be better” is a beautiful thought.
But not when it forgets to say, “...and I’m proud of how far I’ve already come.”
So if you’re reading this today and quietly wishing you were more mindful, more calm, more patient, more fill-in-the-blank, this is your permission to pause and notice;
You’re doing better than you think.
And if you’re doing it right now — you’re doing it.
That’s all mindfulness ever asks.
Sending love,
Lucy x

Perfect timing, just what I needed to read, thank you for sharing it
Inspiring message, Lucy. A sweet intention to want to do more and an opportunity to offer ourselves grace for what we're already doing.
