Your flat tire incident highlights something we often forget: we're not in control of everything. We can do our best to be mindful and present, but sometimes life throws a rock (or a metaphorical wrench) our way. It's not about avoiding these obstacles altogether – that's impossible – but about how we respond to them. Your ability to stay calm and find the silver lining (a quiet moment with a book and a Diet Coke) is inspiring. It's a reminder that even in chaos, there can be peace.
I know it wasn't your intention, but I almost laughed at this Alex - not being in control of things is coming up as a theme for me at the moment and I hadn't even realised it in this story! Your comment reminded me that I can't control life obstacles, but I do have an influence on how mindful I am when hit by a challenge, which will massively impact the outcome. Thanks so much for commenting x
This is a great example of how we react differently in different states. I have taken to a 10 minute yoga nidra in my parked car before going into the house after work so I show up way more patient and available
Yes totally agree about reacting differently in different states! It's not a coincidence that I stayed really calm in this situation after spending a whole day focusing on mindfulness. Had it been on a drive home from work when I'd been stressing about getting everything done, and then rushed to the car without pausing for breath... I'm sure I wouldn't have acted this way.
So pleased this has been helpful John 😊 I'm sure you know this, but can I politely remind you that you don't "need" to be better at remaining calm, don't put that pressure on yourself 🙏 Be kind! Maybe you'd LIKE to be calm, but you don't need to do anything 🥰
Great story, Luci. Mindfulness makes such a positive difference in our lives!
Thank you 🙏 it still blows my mind how impactful it is to be honest! X
